Ladakh: 1D the Srinagar Leh highway

Day 2 (6/23/1013) we headed out of Leh towards the Sangam.  On the itinerary were the Magnetic hill, Likir, Alchi and the Gurudwara.  And still I choose to write about the highway.  1D. The Srinanar-Leh highway. Truly mersmerising drive. The most barren landscape I’ve ever seen.  Majestic brown hills, rising into the bluest skies. As far as the eye could see.

The infinite brown

The play of brown and blue

Sigh… It’s been a really difficult post. To sort though a hundred photos and choose just a few. A month later, stringing this together, I’m transported back in time. To the day we drove across this stretch. Windows down. Wind roaring. The Sun blazing. Sun burnt. Already. Still adjusting to the altitude. But happy. Soaking in the feeling.
